Elizabeth Rehnke: An Asian shopping spree

For fashionista and traveler Elizabeth Rehnke, a trip to Asia’s best shopping capitals is a dream come true.

In the United States, famous shopping destinations include Macy’s in New York and the shops along Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. But Asia, being the world’s largest continent, also boasts of many shopping destinations in different countries, all of which have their own flair, culture, and merchandise for sale. For shopaholics who also love to travel, going to Asia is definitely worth it.

Bangkok in Thailand has chic malls and small, quaint street markets offering almost everything imaginable. Itinerant shoppers can also go to Beijing, China where the recommended shopping agora is in the city’s downtown Wangfujing area, a street mall flanked by two Western-inspired shopping centers.

Another place worth looking into is Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which has an immense variety of items for sale, ranging from clothes, DVDs and CDs, books, and intricate works of Malaysian craftsmen such as batik clothing and wood carvings. In Metro Manila, Philippines, there are many bazaars or tiangge which are famous for selling different kinds of clothes, shoes, and accessories at very low prices.
